Sesame Seeds, so tiny but so mighty

What's so great about Sesame Seeds?

So, I have been eating a lot of sesame seeds lately, on a variety of different foods. And I never really looked into their nutritional value. I know sesame seeds from my childhood favorite snack 'garlic sesame sticks' and some Asian dishes that's about it. Lately, I have been seeing them in all kinds of foods from savory to sweet, to toasted or raw. I had to investigate to see what the hype was all about, what was I missing? It's always a good idea to start with the origin of things and know where they come from and why they were used.

Dr. Axe has a great article with some background to the sesame seed along with some health benefits.

Sesame seeds are a good source of fiber. 3 tablespoons has about 3.5 grams. In that same 3 tablespoons is about 5 grams of protein, another awesome benefit. A good amount of B vitamins is also in that 3 tablespoons B1, B3 and B6 being the highest. Heathline has an article on the benefits of sesame seeds, very in depth and very informative.

There you have it, the quick and easy insight to the tiny yet might sesame seed. Who would have thought that something so tiny would be so beneficial to your health. Be sure to check out our recipe on tahini. An easy and delicious way to add sesame to your diet.

"Why don't we have them in our product?" That's definitely something to think about!
