Nutrition... What is that?

We are all about eating healthy and being the healthiest you, here at Diana's Sprouted. So you would think that being healthy would mean you are getting good nutrition. But what is 'good' nutrition? This is a question I have been pondering. With March being National Nutrition Month, among other things. I thought 'what a perfect topic.'

Nutrition is defined as 'the proccess of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth. Seems simple right? Well, not for me. Good nutrition can mean different things for everyone.  So I put on my research hat to find out what does good nutrtion really mean. What I have come up with is... Nutrients are the ingredients in food that help you grow, repair body tissue and build new muscle tissue. Here is how to find those ingredients.

Nutritious foods needed for growth should have vitamin A, B1 & B2, vitamin F which is folic acid and some calcium. I found that almonds have a decent amount of vitamin B2. Pecans have vitamin A, B and folic acid along with a good amount of calcium and pumpkin seeds also have a decent amount of calcium.

Nutritious foods that are good for repairing body tissue, should have protein, carbohydrates, fats (good fat, which is a monounsaturated fat) and vitamin C. I found that almonds, walnuts and Brazil nuts are a great source of protein and good fats. Most nuts can be a good source of (complex) carbohydrates which is the fuel that feeds the body for energy.

Nutritious foods that are good for new muscle tissue are those that are high in protein and vitamin D. The nuts I listed above (almonds, brazil and walnuts) are a great source of protein and serve a double purpose in nutritious foods.

So, there you have it. Nutrition or should I say good nutrition in a nut shell ;)

Diana's Sprouted, which is a sprouted nut and seed granola. Consists of three seeds and two different nuts in each flavor. That's almost guaranteeing good nutrition out of each bag. Diana's Sprouted is jam packed full of good fats and protein. And unlike your leading granolas out there. Diana's Sprouted is low in sugars because we use just enough organic maple syrup and a touch of honey to make our sprouted granola glisten with goodness. It doesn't need to be overly sweetened because the nuts and seeds are naturally sweet and delicious. Get your bag of Diana's Sprouted today and be full of good nutrition.
